A recent report by the Wall Street Journal suggests that Google [GOOG] will be launching its own online digital eBook store very soon.
Google Editions takes on Amazon Kindle, iBookstore
Google product director, Scott Dougall, told WSJ that the new store “is set to debut in the U.S. by the end of the year and internationally in the first quarter of next year.”
The Google eBook ecosystem will be accessible to smartphones, tablets, PCs and even web browsers, leaving it open to the majority of the public unlike other alternative such as Amazon store's eBooks which mainly run on the Amazon Kindle only.
Google Editions will be sharing its revenue with publishers and hopes to give all authors, new and established, an opportunity to sell their work with ease.
