While the iPhone 4S does boast a vast number of improvements over the iPhone 4, one of its most talked about features ahead of its launch was its personal voice assistant, Siri.
Google working on Siri alternative called Majel?
Since then numerous Android apps came to light boasting somewhat similar capabilities as Android fans began to wonder if such a thing already existed for their devices. This was also around when we started hearing of new developments such as 'Iris' (Siri spell backwards) that was set to be the Siri equivalent for Android.
Well it now looks like we won't need to rely on third party developers for a Siri killer for Android. According to AndroidAndMe, Google is working on a new project codenamed Majel (comes from Majel Barrett-Roddenberry a.k.a the voice of the Federation Computer from Star Trek).
Majel is expected to take the current Google Voice Actions to a whole new level and allow your Android device to understand natural language processing just like Siri.. And given the huge database that Google has collected via its search engines, we are sure it will be pretty solid off the bat. No word yet when it will be released but if we had to guess, it won't be until sometime next year as capable hardware would likely need to accompany it just like in the case of the iPhone 4S to make the experience fluid.
