MacBook Pro 2011 Rumors: Air-Like Design, Sandy Bridge Chips

The MacBook Pro 2011 model which is expected to debut sometime late April may share the same design as the MacBook Air and quite possibly come with the latest Sandy Bridge processors.

MackBook Pro 2011 rumors rekindled

The rumors come courtesy of TFTS who found it "while dissecting the transcript of Apple’s quarterly earnings call":

"The way that we look at it is it’s the Mac of the future shipping today, and it was a phenomenal part of our growth on the Mac last quarter. It has gotten off to an unbelievable start. The customers love it. They love the precision of it, they love the thinness, the weight, the instant on and the list is long, I think. And so we’re really happy with how it’s doing out of the starting block. And as you know, we’ve only been shipping it for less than 90 days, and so we’ve just gotten going."

With the MacBook Air selling selling like hotcakes and inspiring similar "thin as air" laptops (e.g. Samsung Series 9 laptop), the rumors may be true for its sibling the Pro.

Sandy Bridge on MacBook Pro (predictions)

TFTS goes on to speculate that being the MacBook "Pro", it would need something extra to stand above the MacBook Air once they begin to look very similar, hence suggesting Intel’s new Sandy Bridge family of processors, something we have seen been hacked to run on the Mac OS X in the past despite not being "officially supported" by Intel or Apple yet.

More on this as it develops.
