Verizon Wireless CEO Hints Possibility Of Family Shared Data Plans Next Year

Speaking at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference this week, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam hinted that the largest carrier in the US will likely be seeing family shared data plans some time in 2012.

According to McAdam, customers who have multiple devices (smartphones, netbooks, tablets) will not need to be concerned with individual plans for each of their devices and can instead setup a bulk data plan which will cover their usage across all their devices.

For example, you could purchase a 2GB monthly data plan and have all your lines of data-using devices share it. While McAdam didn't have much more details to share, we can assume that it will certainly mean better savings for those with multiple data-enabled devices. Expect it to be made available sometime in early 2012.

We'll keep you posted as more develops.
