HTC 7 Mozart microSD Card Expanded To 32GB (Requires X-Acto Knife)

HTC 7 Mozart microSD slot found

Microsoft wasn't joking when they said Windows Phone 7 devices don't support expansion. However this didn't stop Andy Hamilton from giving it a try.

The man who was handy with an X-Acto knife had to disassemble the HTC 7 Mozart down to little bits before locating the microSD card slot deeply tucked away into the corner. Now we're not sure if this was well worth the effort (and risk of irrepairable damage to the WP7 device) in order to upgrade the Mozart's storage from 8GB to 32GB but it was sure fun to watch.

Inside, Hamilton found an 8GB SanDisk Class 4 microSD card. As Microsoft had stated in its WP7 support documents, only the OEM (manufacturer) is able to swap the microSD card and recommended against owners doing it by themselves:

"The SD card slot in your phone is intended to be used only by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) that built your phone and your Mobile Operator (MO). These partners can add an SD card to this slot to expand the amount of storage on your phone."

We can see why.
