Research In Motion has been struggling with smartphone sales for some time now and it has driven stock prices for the company to such low levels that its estimated value now is below that of Apple's App Store.
RIM estimated value plummets to be below Apple's App Store
At $13.44, RIM stock finished last week at a value of $7.04 billion, making it fall below the Apple App Store which sits at a near $7.08 billion, notes Brian S. Hall.
"The App Store is probably worth more than BlackBerry," Hall writes. "All of BlackBerry. Just the App Store. Nothing else. Not the iPhone or iPod. Not Mac. Just the App Store."
RIM's products in general (both smartphones and its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet) haven't performed as expected despite the company's built-up audience base.
