Hot New Google TV Feature No One Is Talking About

Google recently released version 2.0 for its Google TV and with brought about one feature that isn't getting the press coverage it should: the ability to install non-market apps.

Biggest Google TV v2.0 feature going unpublicized

Now this is nothing new on mobile phones where you have the ability to do so with a simple tick. You can opt for the Amazon App Store that has a free paid app on a daily basis, or you can go one step further (in the wrong direction) and download apps like Black Mart (the "Pirate Bay" of Android).

Well that ability is now possible for Google TV which is big news given the lackluster selection of Android apps for the software. With this now being open, we will soon see not only more developers give Google TV a go but also possibly other media player companies like Roku, Western Digital and more who can now consider moving to an Android platform for their next iterations of media players.

While it is too soon to tell exactly how far Google TV can go with this newfound feature, competition isn't so stiff (Apple TV) unlike in the case of tablets where the iPad 2 rules the roost.

More on this as it develops.
