Android Lemon Award Goes To HTC For Making The Worst Phone Of 2011

While the new generation of Android smartphones seem to be free of the many problems that plagued older models, given the sheer number of different Android handsets hitting the market there are bound to be some lemons. In 2011, the biggest Android lemon award would no doubt have to go the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt.

Verizon HTC Thunderbolt a lemon

Before it was released back in February, it was being hailed as a game changing smartphone mainly because it would become the first 4G LTE phone to hit Verizon Wireless. Even despite the fact that the Verizon iPhone 4 was going to launch the same month, the HTC Thunderbolt was expected to sweep sales.

Well that quickly changed within weeks of the release of the HTC phone. From random reboots and unexpected crashes, to dismal battery life and the ongoing delays with the rollout of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update, the HTC Thunderbolt has been nothing short of a nightmare for owners.

What is truly shocking is the fact that all these bugs managed to pass QC and making its way to the market. If anything, HTC should consider giving Verizon Wireless customers a refund. With the upcoming release of the HTC Rezound a.k.a HTC Thunderbolt 2, we get the feeling that the original HTC Thunderbolt and all its problems will be quietly buried away, leaving behind a few disgruntled customers who will not be looking at HTC when their next upgrade is due.
